Audiovisual Installation

The installation Berlin [bəɾsəˈɫonə] is the result of my Bachelor’s thesis “Installations. The composer’s role in the creation, ideation, and realization of artistic installations” at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) and marks my first collaboration with Paco Ruiz. It consists of three screens projecting images taken in the city of Berlin and a total of six speakers diffusing sounds recorded in the city of Barcelona.

“Berlin [bəɾsəˈɫonə]” is an interdisciplinary installation where two metropolises converge to create a hybrid city, fusing sounds from Barcelona with images from the Berlin. Six audio channels envelop visitors in a soundscape created exclusively with recordings made in Barcelona, while three synchronized video tracks present a triptych focused on the city of Berlin, captured with the distinct aesthetic of low-definition recording devices. This juxtaposition invites visitors to contemplate the sensory dissonance and potential harmony within this imagined, impossible union between two distant cities.
